The
OregonSCUBA Photographers
Below
are the members of our club that are underwater photographers. You're
invited to take a look at their work. Click on their names to visit
their websites.
Julia
Coburn
Julia
has been taking photographs on land for a long time, but only recently
ventured underwater to take them when she got her Open Water certification
in Australia in July, 2001, on the Great Barrier Reef. Once she got over
her fear of cold water and kelp, she started diving in Monterey Bay and
the Channel Islands, and completed her Advanced Open Water and Rescue
Diver certifications. She currently lives in Eugene, Oregon, and dives
in the Pacific Northwest when she can, but still loves California diving.
She has been doing underwater photography for nearly 2 years. Last year,
in the Northern California Underwater Photographic Society's 2002 International
Photo Competition, she won a first, second and third place.
Diana
Schmitt
Diana
started diving in 2001 and found herself with a Sea&Sea DX3000 in
her hands about a year later. She is currently outfitting herself with
a Light and Motion Tetra housing for an Olympus 5060 and a Sea&Sea
YS90DX Strobe. She's an SSI DiveCon who loves NW diving as well as trips
to Grand Cayman, Little Cayman, Cozumel, the BVI’s and anywhere
she can get underwater with a camera.
Steve
Billings
Steve
Billings and his daughter have been diving since Nov. 2000. Steve started
underwater photography in 2001 with a trusty Sea&Sea MX-10 which has
served him well. In the fall of 2003 he began to put together a digital
camera setup using a Nikon Coolpix 995 in an Ikelite housing. Almost all
of his diving is in the chilly waters of Washington States Puget
Sound. Photographing the marine life in the Pacific Northwest is challenging,
but very rewarding. The diversity and intriguing critters is always fascinating.
Brad
Wooden
Brad
started diving in Southern California back in 1978. On a trip to the Cayman
Islands in 1995 he wanted to capture all the cool things that he saw,
on film, so he bought an Ikelite U/W housing for throw away cameras. Brad
discovered that he really enjoyed U/W photography. 3 years later he upgraded
his photo gear to a Sea&Sea MotormarineII. After a learning curve
with the MMII his pictures improved greatly. There were a few limitations
with the MMII, so in 2003 he bought a housed Nikon N90. Another learning
curve.
Jim
Christensen
Jim
"Crunchy' Christensen has won and will continue to win countless
underwater photo contests. Take a look at this website and it's not difficult
to see why.
In
addition to being an outstanding UW Photographer, he is an accomplished
webmaster. You'll be very pleased by his work, both photos and presentation
on the web.
Linda
Cline
Linda
Cline has been diving since 1995, and got started in underwater photography
in 1997. While some folks would call it a passion, she admits it's more
an obsession! Her film camera of choice is a Subeye Reflex, and she experiments
with a digital D100 in a LMI Titan housing as well. She enjoys traveling
to dive destinations around the world, but some of her favorite diving
is in the cold dark waters of the Pacific NW.
Wade
Norton
Wade
Norton has been experimenting with underwater photography since shortly
after diving certification.
His
interest in Photography came after he started scuba diving in '96. He
wanted to photograph the natural beauty he was experiencing. Thus allowing
him to share with others and keep the memories from fading.
As
of late, Wade and wife Debi have been exploring underwater videography.
They've added a housed DV camcorder to their arsenal of submersible tools.
Alison
Stenger
Alison
is an Archaeologist and Professor with a passion for diving. She has done
many research projects above and below the water line. When she's not
leading groups of Underwater Archaeologists on exciting discoveries, you
can find her honing her skill as an accomplished Underwater Photographer.
Janna
Nichols
Janna
started shooting underwater photos shortly after certifying in 1999. Most
of her diving has been in the Pacific NW, although she has traveled to
Bonaire, California, and Hawaii and shot photos there too.
She
teaches Fish and Invertebrate ID classes to divers and uses her photos
in her classes. She takes her trusty Sea&Sea MX-10 on almost every
dive.
